Overview
PepTcell is an immunology company with a focus on the development of vaccines for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, novel treatments for autoimmune disorders, the prevention of transplant rejection by the induction of tolerance and the treatment of cancers that present differential biomarkers.
PepTcell's current priorities are:
(a) the development of a new class of synthetic vaccines – T cell vaccines – against highly mutagenic viruses to prevent Influenza, HIV, Hepatitis B & C and Rotavirus infections. The company uses a proprietary breakthrough technology to efficiently and rapidly identify conserved immunogenic regions on all viruses of a specific type that will stimulate a T cell immune response. The Influenza and HIV are the most advanced and both are completing pre-clinical development ;
(b) the identification and development of a single vaccine that will be effective against a number of mosquito borne diseases; and
(c) a breast cancer drug for oestrogen positive and HER 2 Neu positive or negative cancers
The Company began operating in 2004; however, the founding shareholders and key employees have been working on this novel concept for over 20 years.
PepTcell's lead products HIV and Flu-v, single treatment vaccines discovered after four years of extensive research, are about to enter clinical trials in the UK. The HIV vaccine is intended to be effective against all strains of HIV. The flu vaccine is intended to be effective against all strains of flu virus, which could eliminate the need for annual flu vaccinations.
